Illinois Food Safety Training Online
The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food to have a certified food service manager on the premises at all times food is being handled.
In order to receive this Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) from the state of Illinois, the employee must take an approved 15 hour training course.
Our course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health for this mandatory certification.
Certificate holders may also renew their license by completing an approved food safety 15 hour course or a 5 hour refresher course prior to the expiration of their certification as a part of the continuing education clause.
We offer the Learn2Serve Food Safety Management Principles Certification Training course that provides training to fulfill the 15 hour Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) Course requirement in Illinois. The final certification examination is not included and is handled separately.

A typical Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager course held in a classroom lasts 15 to 20 hours, costs $125 to $175 and is frequently held on weekends.
For those of us who work in the food and beverage industry, this is our busiest time and difficult to schedule the day off.
Taking the Illinois FSSMC course online allows you to take the course on your own schedule and at your own pace. If you didn't understand part of the video, you may replay it to see it again and get the answers. This is hard to do in a large class of 20 to 30 people when an instructor is already speaking on the next subject.
In today's economy, money is tight, gasoline is expensive and it makes sense to eliminate unnecessary trips when possible.
Taking our online Illinois Food Safety Manager course allows you to save this time and expense.
How to Take the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Exam
The State of Illinois does not allow the final exam to be taken online. The final exam must be taken in a proctored (classroom) environment.
The final certification examination is not included and is handled separately. The Illinois Instructor for this Training course, Lori Randall, will report your training and handle the state required paperwork. You must take and pass the state examination with a score of at least 75 percent and pay the required certificate fee to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to obtain your FSSMC in Illinois.
Once you complete the course, you must fax a copy of your completion certificate to 773-821-6910. A Permission to Take Exam form will be faxed or emailed to you. One you have this form, please contact the local Illinois Department of Public Health office (see list below) to set up an appointment to take the exam. You will need to take the Permission to Take Exam letter, a copy of the course completion certificate, and a picture ID.
Note: The Exam is free at all Illinois Department of Public Health offices.
